chapter 5: WHAT’S BOOZE GOTTA DO WITH IT?
BORED 😴 🥱? SKIP TO THE END
oh that’s right, you here for the booze.
ogogoro, is a traditional west african spirit made from fermented palm sap. it is sometimes enjoyed as a potion, with mysterious roots and herbs transforming the clear spirit into a delicious tinged tonic. our drink is an homage to these ogogoro concoctions.
our spirit is called Since the Time of John the Baptist, or Since… for short. the name is a nod to africa’s interminable suffering.
ogogoro, banned by british colonial authorities to protect their own alcohol imports, suitably dramatizes the jeopardy of the global trade system on local communities.
